Mi Ngoni, West Nile

Dribidu, the ancestor of all Lugbara people is believed, according to myths, to have settled there after being excommunicated from east of the Albert Nile. He saw smoke rising from near the mountain and on approaching the source found a woman cooking. He made her his wife, hence the Lugbara tribe started from Wati.
If you do not believe this story, you need happiness in your life. And this you will find when you come hiking Mt. Wati with Mountain Slayers Uganda. The highest point in West Nile, Wati overlooks villages in the vast savannah that could well be a nostalgic throw back to the golden age of the white hunter.
We shall cool off at the picture-perfect Miriadua Falls, one of West Nile’s growing number of hidden gems and the site of our weekend camp. Listen to the sounds of the Lugbara in a cultural dance then indulge your palate with local dishes like angara, enyasa, osubi, etc. This will be a hike to unlock West Nile, a fantastic way to open our fourth season.
